Police arrest Sean Penn’s son and his girlfriend on drug possession charges
Nebraska police have arrested the son of actors Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn, along with his girlfriend, on accusations of drug possession, as reported by Page Six.
Hopper Penn, 24, and girlfriend Uma von Wittkamp, 26, were pulled over in a 1992 Volvo on Wednesday afternoon for a routine traffic violation, after an officer noticed that they failed to signal. The arresting officer stated that, upon pulling the pair over, they noticed “suspicious drug activity,” the Nebraska State Police told reporters. Investigators noted that Wittkamp was behind the wheel at the time of the arrest.
Authorities searched their car and reportedly found illicit drugs including 14 grams of marijuana, four amphetamine pills and three grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Hopper, an actor who appeared in the film “War Machine,” was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and Wittkamp was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. They were both booked into Hamilton County Jail, where they spent the night behind bars. The couple was released on bail on Thursday, as reported by NY Daily News.
According to PEOPLE, Penn revealed his battle with crystal meth addiction back in 2017, noting how his father helped him recover.
“Thank God I got out of that because that was the worst time in my life,” he said.
