YouTube shooter went to gun range the morning before massacre: Cops
California police have reported that the woman who shot up the YouTube headquarters on Wednesday, injuring three, visited a gun range on the morning before the attack, as reported by New York Post.
Nasim Najafi Aghdam, 39, visited a San Diego-area gun range on Wednesday morning, prior to visiting the YouTube headquarters and injuring three employees before killing herself with a legally owned 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun.
Officers also discovered Aghdam sleeping in her car hours before the attack, failing to apprehend her as they thought she posed no risk, as previously reported by CrimeOnline.
Additionally, her father, Ismail Aghdam, called Mountain View police and warned them that the shooter may be headed for YouTube. The Mountain View police department reportedly did not share the information with San Bruno police.
San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini noted that she likely targeted the video sharing site company headquarters because she was disgruntled with recently instituted policy that she believed was discriminatory and cut into her income, as reported by NBC News.
“We know that she was upset with YouTube,” Barberini said, telling reporters that there were no clear targets in her attack.
“There seemed to be no kind of method or rhyme or reason to what she was doing.”
An unnamed family member expressed concern that Aghdam was allowed to purchase a firearm without a psychiatric exam.
“I am so sorry for those people shot,” she said.
This shooting occurred just six weeks after the deadly Parkland massacre, in which Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students with an AR-15 assault rifle.
