American tourists found mysteriously dead in Caribbean hotel room
A pair of American tourists were found mysteriously dead in their Dominican Republic hotel room last week, the same day they were set to fly back home.
Dominican Today reports that Edward Nathael Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Ann Day, 50, an engaged couple from Maryland, were found dead at the Bahía Príncipe hotel at the Playa Nueva Romana resort. According to the NBC 4 Washington, the couple had checked into the hotel on May 25 and were set to return to the U.S. on Thursday, the same day they were found dead.
The cause of death was not immediately known, and there was no apparent evidence of violence, according to multiple reports.
Holmes’ sister told NBC 4 Washington that she had talked to the pair while they were on the trip, and that the couple was having a great time.
Cynthia Day, 49, and Nathaniel Holmes, 63, were found dead — with no indications of violence — at the resort they were staying at while vacationing in the Dominican Republic.

Just two months ago, another vacationing couple did not make it home from their trip to the Dominican Republic. As CrimeOnline previously reported, Orlando Moore and Portia Ravenelle of New York vanished on the day they were set to return home. Authorities later said that both were believed killed in a car wreck on the way to the airport, and that Ravenelle had initially survived the accident was hospitalized for 8 days before she died, and before the hospital was able to identify her. A body believed to be Moore’s was found in water alongside a road that the couple likely took to the airport.
Another American tourist, Tammy Lawrence-Daley of Delaware,, reportedly survived a brutal attack in January in Punta Cana, at the hands of an assailant who allegedly wore a hotel worker uniform. According to the New York Post, Lawrence-Daley had left her hotel room to get a snack when she was attacked by the still-unknown suspect and brutally beaten in a crawl space, where she was trapped for 8 hours until she was able to get the attention of passerby who could free her.
