Catholic school principal resigns after he’s arrested on field trip while at a local strip club: Cops
Authorities in Louisiana say the former principal of a Catholic school in Port Allen is facing criminal charges following his arrest at a strip club in the nation’s capital last week.
According to USA Today, the outing to D.C. was part of a school-sanctioned trip, but investigators do not believe any students were with Michael Comeau when he entered Archibald’s Gentlemen’s Club on Thursday. Reports indicate he had a service dog with him when he entered the establishment.
A spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge acknowledged the arrest of the Holy Family School principal, as reported by the News Star.
“The incident occurred when the students on the trip were in their hotel rooms for the evening under the supervision of other chaperones,” explained Dan Borne.
Comeau had been in the position for five years following a career in public schools, the statement continued. Reports indicate he also served as a reserve police officer in Brusly and has since resigned from that position, too.
“Mr. Comeau has submitted his resignation as principal and an interim principal will be appointed,” Borne concluded.
Police were called to the strip club in response to a complaint that he refused to pay his tab and later arrested him on suspicion of public intoxication and possessing an open alcohol container.
